LAST DAY IN IRELAND

Imagen
The last day in Ireland was not a normal day. We had to wake up very early and be at school at around 7:15 a.m. to take a bus to Dublin, where the flight back to Bilbao leave. The journey was long, but we had a great time on the bus. When we arrived at the airport, we checked our passports and bags, and then we had to say goodbye to our Irish students before going through security. It was a little bit sad, but not very much because I knew we would see they again six months later. After that, we took the flight without any problems and we arrived in Bilbao, where our families were waiting for us and were really happy to see us again.

THE LAST WEEKEND

Imagen
The last weekend was very fun and interesting. On Saturday, after lunch, some Spanish Erasmus students came with their Irish students to my Irish’s house. We spent some time together, having a snack, talking and enjoying. Later, some of us went to Mass. It was quite similar to the Mass in Spain, but it was a interesting experience in Ireland. After Mass, we spent some more time walking around Kilfinane after thet we went home to rest. On Sunday, I had a chill morning and didn’t do anything special. In the afternoon, I went with my host family to visit a cave. After a short car journey we arrived and had a talk about the cave and its history. I really enjoyed the visit because it was a beautiful and interesting place. After that we went home and rest because we had school the next day.

SIGHTSEEING IN CORK

On the 23rd of September, we went on a trip to visit a university in Cork. We went to school at the normal time and, after Pastoral Care, at 9 o’clock we took a bus to Cork. There, we visited University College Cork. We had a talk about the university, its history and many other interesting things. After the visit, we went to the city centre. We had some free time to have lunch and explore the city. I had a pizza for lunch, and after we visited some important and interesting places in Cork. After exploring the city, we went back to the meeting point and walked to the bus, seeing a little more of the city on the way. Then, we took the bus back home. In my opinion, it was a shame that we didn’t have more time to visit Cork, because I think it was a very beautiful and interesting city.

IT IS TY A NORMAL YEAR?

Imagen
Transition Year, also called as TY, is an optional year in Ireland. It is different from a normal school year because students do many activities that help them to know about what do in their future. It also gives them the opportunities to discover which subjects they like or  not like. During this year, they don´t have many exams and homework. Although they have some normal subjects, such as Maths, English and other languages, they also have a lot of different subjects and activities, such as hiking, cooking, swimming, wood work and music. In my opinion, TY is not a normal school year. It is a year to discover your interests and learn what you want to do in the future.

PLOUGHING AND TRIP TO THE COAST

On Wednesday 16th, we went to the Ploughing Festival, near Tullamore. It is a big festival with tractors, food trucks, clothes shoops and many other things. We had to wake up at around 7 a.m. because we had to take a bus to Limerick, then a train to Tullamore and finally another bus to the festival. It was a long journey, but it was worth it. We walked around the festival, saw many interesting things and had a really fun experience. After that we made the same journey back and arrived home quite late. On Thursday, we went on another school trip. First, we went surfing in Lahinch. It was really fun, although the water was very cold. Then, we visited the Cliffs of Moher, one of the most famous places in Ireland. After two long days, we finally went home and had some time to rest.

LIMERICK CITY TRIPS

The Saturday 12th of september, we went to Limerick, a city near the town where we are staying. First, we went to a shopping centre and spent some time there. Then, we went to the city centre, where we walked and visited the Milk Market. After that, we came back and I went to the church to mass. Later, I went home and relaxed. The next day, Sunday, I got up and went with my host family to a car show that was in Limerick. We saw lots of sports cars driving very fast, which was really exciting. I like it very much because I love cars. After that, we went to see some old and classic cars and visited a castle. Finally, we went back home and spent the rest of the day relaxing with my host family.
